The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the assumption of duty of a new Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Ondo State, Dr. Mutiu Olaleke Agboke.
Agboke has previously served as REC of Ondo State between July 2017 and January 2018.
In a press release issued on Monday, and signed by the Administrative Secretary, Tadese Adenike, INEC described Dr. Agboke as a professional known for integrity, transparency and dedication to duty.
Expressing confidence in his ability to strengthen electoral processes in the state, the commission disclosed that Dr. Agboke officially resumed office at the Ondo State headquarters in Akure, marking the beginning of his tenure as the state’s chief electoral officer.
According to INEC, Dr. Agboke is a seasoned legal scholar and election management expert.
"He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2006 and previously served as a member of the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) between 2012 and 2016."
The commission further noted that the new REC brings a wealth of experience to the role, having served in similar capacity across multiple states, including Ondo, Oyo and Osun, where he supervised the 2019 and 2023 general elections.
The commission added that his appointment is expected to enhance the credibility of elections in Ondo State, assuring stakeholders of its commitment to delivering free, fair and credible polls under his leadership.
