Former Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has commiserated with the Olowu of Owu kingdom, Oba Professor Saka Matemilola over the death of his mother.

Olowu’s mother, Alhaja Aliratu Adunni Matemilola in the early hours of Sunday, 27 October, 2024.

Senator Amosun who joined the Matemilola royal family to mourn the exit of Iya Oba, noted that her death has left a big vacuum that will be difficult to fill.

In a statement signed by Lanre Akinwale from Amosun’s media office, the former governor emphasized the important roles of parents in the lives of the children.

Amosun further described the late Alhaja Matemilola as a doting mother who exemplified the cherished values of quality parenting and proper upbringing of her children and other members of her family.

"She will be remembered for giving to us in Owu kingdom our respected monarch, the Olowu of Owu, who has remained a symbol of unity, progress and development."

The former Governor enjoined Kabiyesi not to mourn but rather celebrate the eventful life of Iya Oba and the enduring legacies she left behind.

Amosun prayed that Allah (SWT) would forgive her shortcomings, grant her Aljannah Firdaus, and give Kabiyesi and the entire Matemilola royal family, the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
