Former Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikiunle Amosun has described Chief Olatunde Ayinla Abudu as a man of great repute whose life was defined by service, integrity, and commitment to the socio-economic development of Egbaland, Ogun State and Nigeria.

The revered industrialist, philanthropist, and elder statesman died peacefully in the early hours of Monday, June 9, 2025, at the age of 96.

Amosun, while mourning the passing of Chief Abudu, described him as a pillar of community development and national progress.

“Chief Abudu's life was one of dedicated service, visionary enterprise, and unwavering commitment to the advancement of his people.

"Chief Abudu was a man of great repute, whose life was defined by service, integrity, and commitment to the socio-economic development of Egbaland, Ogun State, and Nigeria," Senator Amosun said in a statement issued on Monday.

As Mayegun of Egbaland and Seriki of Oke-Ona Egba, Chief Abudu was more than a traditional titleholder — he was a statesman who championed peace, unity, and community progress.

He stood among a distinguished generation of Egbaland sons whose footprints span law, education, health, and industrial growth.

His entrepreneurial spirit gave rise to enduring institutions such as Midland Galvanising Limited and NobelHouse College, both based in Abeokuta. These contributions not only boosted the local economy but also created avenues for youth empowerment and education.

Chief Abudu was also a founding member, trustee, and Life President of the prestigious Abeokuta Club — a reflection of his deep commitment to civic engagement and cultural preservation.

On a personal note, Senator Amosun recalled Abudu’s role in resolving sensitive issues during his tenure as governor. “Our administration benefited immensely from his peace-loving spirit, calm demeanor, experience, and statesmanship,” he said.

“I pray that Allah (SWT) will grant him Aljannah Firdaus,” Senator Amosun stated, offering his sympathies to the Abudu family and calling for strength in their time of mourning.
