Former Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has mourned the passing of a third republic lawmaker who represented Ogun West Senatorial District, Senator Ayodeji Otegbola.
Amosun described the late former lawmaker as a respected elder statesman and community leader who exuded an unwavering passion for the cause of Aworiland.
Senator Amosun noted the immense contributions of Senator Otegbola to the development of Aworiland, Ogun West, Ogun State and Nigeria.
He further described him as someone whose commitment was exemplified by his chieftaincy title of Asiwaju of Aworiland.
Amosun also recalled how Senator Otegbola, as a Senator of the Third Republic, provided quality representation and effective lawmaking that set Nigeria and particularly Ogun West Senatorial District of Ogun State on the path of development which successive lawmakers have continued to build on.
“His positive impact as Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State was also worthwhile.
“Beyond politics and public service, Senator Otegbola was a thorough-bred Estate Surveyor whose career was marked by many towering achievements including the establishment of Ayo Otegbola & Co, a firm of Estate Surveyors and Valuers.
"As the Baba Ijo of St. Michael’s African Bethel Cathedral, Igbo Olori, Ota, Ogun State, Senator Ayodeji Otegbola will be sorely missed for his service in the Lord's vineyard."
Senator Amosun prayed that the Almighty God will grant Senator Ayodeji Otegbola eternal rest, and give his children, grandchildren and the entire Otegbola family, the fortitude to bear his irreparable loss.
Senator Otegbola, the Asiwaju of Aworiland, died on Monday, 17 February, 2025, at the age of 91 years.
