At least 13 people were killed in separate attacks by suspected gunmen in Jos South, Mangu and Riyom Local Government Areas of Plateau State on Sunday night.

Nine of the victims were passengers travelling to Jos when the attackers opened fire on their vehicle at Dungus Junction in Jos South LGA.

Some injured passengers were rushed to hospital, where some reportedly later died.

In Mangu LGA, two people were killed when suspected terrorists attacked Vodni in Pushit District, while four others sustained gunshot injuries.

Two other people were reportedly killed in a separate attack at Tahoos in Riyom LGA.

The Berom Youth Moulders spokesman, Rwang Tengwong, confirmed the Dungus attack, saying it occurred around 9:40pm.

He said one of those killed was a member of Operation Rainbow.

The Plateau State Government condemned the attacks and urged residents not to retaliate.

It called on communities to remain vigilant and provide security agencies with credible and timely information to help prevent further attacks and apprehend the perpetrators.
