The YAYI Ni Wura Alliance Movement (Y.A.M.) has declared support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid and the governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as YAYI, announcing a target of 100,000 votes for All Progressives Congress candidates across Ogun State.

The group, which described itself as a socio-political organisation, said it had attracted members from different political backgrounds, including former supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party and the African Democratic Congress.

Speaking at a press briefing in Ogun State on Thursday, the alliance’s Director of Media and Publicity, Comrade Wasiu Adekunle Adejumo, popularly known as Westo, said members of the group had united around their support for Tinubu and Adeola ahead of the 2027 elections.

Adejumo said the movement was established to provide a platform for individuals who shared its political objectives, regardless of their previous party affiliations.

He said, “We were initially on the side of the opposition party. Some of us from APC, PDP, some of us are from ADC. Because of the reason that we want to support Solomon Olamilekan Adeola YAYI in Ogun State, and we want to support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu; that is the reason why we decided to come together.”

The State Coordinator of the movement, Comrade Akeem Shodiya, said Y.A.M. was established to mobilise support for Tinubu, Adeola and other APC candidates across the state.

Shodiya added that the alliance remained open to members of other political platforms willing to join its mobilisation structure, saying, “We have made our decision. We have chosen our direction, we are open to all, and we want everyone to support this movement.”

The alliance said its activities would not be limited to political mobilisation, but would also include community engagement and empowerment initiatives.

Adejumo cited a medical outreach organised by the movement at the State Hospital, Ijaye, as part of its community interventions. He also highlighted what he described as Adeola’s legislative and constituency interventions, particularly his activities as a senator and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations.

The alliance further expressed support for the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, citing infrastructure development and economic reforms as areas it believes should be sustained.

While acknowledging that the administration still had areas requiring attention, Adejumo said the movement believed the government was addressing some of the challenges confronting the country.

The briefing also featured criticism of opposition figures, including former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party leader Peter Obi.

Adejumo questioned aspects of their political positions and policy proposals, stressing that the alliance had chosen to support Tinubu and the APC.

He said, “We support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and we support all APC candidates in Ogun State, from Senator YAYI to Senator Shuaib Salisu, who is also seeking re-election for the seat of Senate in Ogun Central. We support Olumide Osoba; we support all APC candidates across the state.”

The movement subsequently announced its intention to embark on a statewide grassroots mobilisation campaign, with officials setting a target of 100,000 votes for APC candidates in Ogun.

The figure, however, represents the alliance’s stated mobilisation target and is not an independent projection of electoral support.

The development comes as political parties, support groups and other political organisations intensify grassroots activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Among those present at the briefing were the alliance’s Senatorial Leader, Hon. Gbenga Adewale; Hon. Joseph Akintunde of Ogun West; Alhaji Segun Saula of Ogun East; Hon. Kehinde Oluyooye of Ijebu North-East; Comrade Moshood Ogundare, popularly known as Oyinbo Iyabo; Hon. Mrs Funke of Obafemi-Owode; Hon. Toyin Kajogbola of Abeokuta North; and Comrade Temitope Ajayi of Obailukan, among others.

The group also acknowledged the presence of its Director-General, Dr. Iziak Salako, Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare.

With political mobilisation gathering momentum ahead of the 2027 elections, the emergence of Y.A.M. adds to the growing network of support organisations seeking to build grassroots structures and mobilise voters for their preferred candidates in Ogun State.
