The immediate past Deputy Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Dare Kadiri, has described the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun as a coward, vowing that he will not support hise second term ambition.

Kadiri, the Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun East born politician revealed that the Governor told him to his face that he could not be trusted and would not support him (Kadiri) in his political aspiration.

This, according to Kadiri, was after he had earlier agreed with the Governor of his ambition to contest the House of Representatives ticket.

The former Deputy Speaker who was impeached in March 2021, said this when the Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ladi Adebutu visited him in his Ijebu-Igbo home, during the weekend.

Kadidi said both the Governor and the Speaker of the House, Olakunle Oluomo, have refused to tell him his offence for which he was impeached.

“The day Dapo Abiodun becomes the Governor, both of us sat down and he told me he will be going for second term, I also told him I wanted to go to the House of Reps, and he told me ‘Dare, let’s go and start the work’, and we were doing it.

“And one of those things that makes me not to have fate in him now is that, till tomorrow, If I ask him, and I have asked him more than 10 times that ‘Oga, what did I do?’, (he will say) ‘I am not the person who impeached you, it was the Speaker that impeached you.’

“And whenever I see the Speaker and asked him, ‘What did I do?’, (he will say) ‘I am not the one who impeached you, it was that Governor who impeached you’, that is being a coward.

“I do not deal with cowards but I carry on, believing that it might have been my destiny. I will say my own and stay with the battle, I will never support Governor Dapo.

“And if you make that kind of technical error by telling me to my face that you do not trust me and you support me, I am not a bastard from Ago-Iwoye, I am a warrior, but when it comes to that time, we will show ourselves.”

Kadiri further said that contrary to the claim by the governor that he made him the Deputy Speaker, he became the Deputy Speaker because he was the only ranking member from Ogun East where the office was

“He was going about telling people he made me the Deputy Speaker, no, it was the constitution that made me the Deputy Speaker, because I was the only ranking (member) from Ogun East, that was the only reason why I was the Deputy Speaker, it was not the Governor.

“I didn’t tell me I wanted to be the Deputy Speaker. In fact, while I was campaigning, I was telling my constituents that ‘If you vote for me, I will be the Deputy Speaker.”

According to the All Progressives Congress, APC lawmaker, the struggle in Ogun State is not about a party or any particular individual, but a salvage mission.

He added that everybody must collaborate deeply with the aim to rescuing the State.

“With due respect, there is a lot of things going on on social media, ‘I want to decamp, I am not decamping’. Sir, party does not really matter now, people look at personalities, we will not overlook collaborations. Very deep collaborations, because this is about Ogun State and not about Ladi Adebutu, or about Dare Kadiri, it is not about anybody here, it is about Ogun State.

“We should all be on a salvage mission. God has done well for you and in our own little way, God has done well for us and it is not about money or name anymore. I will support you, it is about Ogun State.”
