It was dramatic during the live broadcast of the All Progressives Congress presidential primary last week when many Nigerians flooded the comment section of one of the televisions stations with account numbers.
During the live broadcast of the primary which saw the emergence of former Lagos state Governor, Bola Tinubu, as the flagbearer of the party, many Nigerians were seen dropping congratulation messages alongside their account numbers on the comment session.
While it came as a surprise for the TV station airing the primary live, many Nigerians in the comment box argued that there is need for the APC candidate to dole out money for the "online delegates".
It was learnt that Nigerians were dropping their account numbers on the live programme following a report that the former governor allegedly paid as much as $20,000 for some delegates, while some got $5,000 in order to ensure victory at the APC presidential primary.
Some viewers of the live broadcast argued that people supporting the emergence of Tinubu online should also be compensated like the APC delegates on ground during the over 24 hours event at Eagles Square, Abuja.
Looking through the comment section of the live programme, it was observed that not less than 70 per cent of the viewers wrote congratulatory messages alongside their account details.
Some stressed that it was a "national cake that must be distributed equally to the people."
Some of the people who dropped account stressed that the APC candidate needs to grease their palm to ease his emergence as the next Nigeria president come 2023.
When this reporter reads through the comments, it was discovered that many account names do not correlate with the Facebook profile name of the sender.
For example, someone who bears Julius Emmanuel, dropped an account number with Adegbola Babatunde as name on the account.
This however fuel speculation that many people are using pseudo names on Facebook.
Meanwhile, many of those who dropped their account numbers came under attack by other social media users who described them as "poverty-oriented people".
A Facebook user, Oshodi faith Lee said, "Una get sub to watch live show, una come dey beg for live TV. Shameless people."
Another user, Ruth Aderenle wrote, "poverty is an incurable disease in Nigeria. Only God can intervene."
