Ex-OGTV Staff murdered by former security guard Seeking to 'Teach Her a Lesson' — Police provide details of suspects
The Ogun State Police Command has revealed the identities of the killers of retired OGTV staff, Ms Kitan Oyesiku and her security guard, Pelumi Adetayo on Sunday.
The police revealed that the attack was masterminded by the deceased's former security guard who claimed he wanted to "teach her a lesson."
Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, disclosed this on Thursday during a press briefing at the Command Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta while providing details of the investigation that led to the arrest of all the suspects linked to the crime.
According to the police chief, the principal suspect, Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip, 22, a former security guard employed by the deceased, confessed during interrogation that he coordinated the attack following grievances he harboured against Madam Oyesiku during the period he worked for her.
Police investigations revealed that Philip recruited two accomplices; Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola, 27, a security guard, and Sobu Obafunsho, 36, a bricklayer, to execute the deadly plan.
According to the CP, Philip reportedly in his confessional statement told investigators that the objective of the attack was to "teach her a lesson."
The suspects allegedly carried out the operation on Saturday, June 20, 2026.
According to the police commissioner, the suspects first overpowered Pelumi Adetayo, the security guard on duty at the residence, and used him to gain access into the house before attacking Madam Oyesiku.
The crime came to light on Sunday after suspicious circumstances were reported at the deceased's residence.
Detectives who responded to the scene discovered Adetayo's lifeless body inside the security post, while Madam Oyesiku was found dead in a pool of blood in the living room of her home.
Investigators also discovered that the deceased's Lexus RX 330 SUV had been stolen from the premises.
The CP said through intelligence gathering and technical tracking operations, the vehicle was recovered the following day in the Onikolobo area of Abeokuta.
He said although the suspects had removed the ignition key and detached the registration plates, detectives recovered the plate concealed beneath one of the seats, confirming ownership.
CP Ojajuni disclosed that a handwritten note left behind by the perpetrators proved to be a crucial breakthrough in the investigation.
He said forensic analysis of the note generated valuable leads that assisted detectives in identifying and tracing the suspects.
Acting on the intelligence gathered, police operatives arrested Philip Wednesday at a construction site in the Ibara GRA area of Abeokuta, where he was working as a labourer.
Subsequent operations, Ojajuni said, led to the arrest of Ayoola and Obafunsho, bringing all identified suspects into custody.
The police also recovered several exhibits linked to the crime, including a broken hammer, a cutlass, a plank and a black pen, during searches conducted at locations connected to the suspects.
While noting that the suspects had made confessional statements and substantial evidence had been recovered, the Commissioner of Police stressed that investigations were continuing to consolidate evidence and ensure diligent prosecution.
"The Command remains committed to ensuring that justice is served and that all persons connected with this heinous crime are brought to book," Ojajuni said.
