The EFCC, in a statement posted on its X handle on Wednesday, said operatives of its Benin Zonal Directorate picked her up on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
“The self-acclaimed Archbishop, who is the founder of Faith Healing Ministry, Warri, Delta State, was arrested following a viral video where several individuals under her supervision were seen spraying naira notes on a live cow during a church programme,” the statement read.
The act, according to the agency, violates Section 21 of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007, which prohibits the mutilation and abuse of the national currency.
The commission added that efforts are underway to apprehend other suspects involved in the incident.
It said Archbishop Oyeghe has already given “useful statements” to investigators and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
The video, circulated widely on social media and screenshots of which the EFCC posted, depicted individuals, in the presence of Oyeghe, throwing naira bills onto a cow during a church programme.
The case echoes previous high-profile arrests for naira abuse, including socialite Cubana Chief Priest in April 2024 and cross-dresser Bobrisky earlier that year, both accused of similar violations at social events.
