The governorship candidate of Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, in Ogun State, Cyprus Oluwaseun Johnson, has distanced himself from second term endorsement of Governor Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Johnson, in a press statement personally signed, a copy of which was made available to journalists, said he was at the endorsement meeting for Inter Party Advisory Council, IPAC meeting, but not for Abiodun's endorsement.

The PRP candidate revealed that he was in a meeting with his Party Chairman, Engr. Samson Okusanya, who also doubled as IPAC Chairman, when he was called for the Council meeting with the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi.

He said he was also invited to the meeting as an observer, adding that the issue of endorsement, unexpectedly, came up with the SSG.

While tagging his attendance at the meeting as a mistake, Johnson maintained that there was no where his party or himself was mentioned as part of the endorsement.

The statement reads, "I, Teacher CYRUS OLUWASEUN JOHNSON (AKINFENWA), the Governorship Candidate of Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) dissociate myself from the news trending on the Social Media and other Media Platform since yesterday Tuesday 28th February, 2023 on the purported Endorsement of Prince Dapo ABIODUN for another term in Office.

"This is to bring to the notice of the general public that the purported meeting was for the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Ogun State Chapter of which it's State Chairman (Engr. Samson Okusanya) happens to be the Ogun State PRP Chairman as well.

"I was in a meeting with my party Chairman in person of Engr. Samson Okusanya when he was called for IPAC meeting with the Secretary to the State  Government of Ogun State (Mr. Tokunbo Talabi) and told me to join him as an Observer at the meeting.

"Unexpectedly to me, the issue of endorsement issue came up.

"However, in the State IPAC Chairman statement, there is no where he mentioned PRP or it's Governorship Candidate being part of the said Endorsement.

My presence at the meeting was a mistake and I accept my fault.

"This is to re - assure our Party faithful and the General Public that I have not in any form endorsed Prince Dapo Abiodun for a Second Term in office.”
