The Peoples Democratic Party National Convention Organising Committee has set Tuesday, October 28, for the screening of aspirants vying for positions in the National Working Committee ahead of its elective convention scheduled for November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Chairman of the NCOC and Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, announced this in a statement on Thursday.

He added that Monday, October 27, 2025, is the deadline for submitting completed Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms to the committee’s secretariat.

The statement read in part, “The screening of all aspirants for various National Offices in the 2025 PDP Elective National Convention has been scheduled for Tuesday, October 28, 2025.

“The screening is to hold at the National Convention Organising Committee Secretariat Conference Hall, Legacy House, Maitama, Abuja, at 2 pm, while the Screening Appeal has been slated for Thursday, 30th October, 2025.

“To this effect, Monday, 27th October, 2025 has been approved as the last date for the submission of already completed Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms by all aspirants to the NCOC Secretariat.

“All aspirants, critical stakeholders and Party members should note the dates and be guided accordingly.”

This development is coming amid escalating tension within the PDP ahead of its national convention.

Supporters of FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, are said to be dissatisfied with the leadership of Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum, pointing to lingering disputes over control of the party in the South-South and the zoning of major offices.

The internal crisis has also moved to the courts, as PDP chairmen from Imo and Abia States filed a suit against the Damagum-led NWC, accusing it of violating the party’s constitution.

The case, handled by Justice James Omotosho, has faced contention over legal representation and is expected to be decided on October 30.

Meanwhile, National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu denied endorsing the INEC notification letter for the convention and called on security agencies to probe the matter.

The party has refuted his allegation, fueling concerns that the ongoing divisions, forgery accusations, and court cases could jeopardise preparations for the convention.
