The Chief Imam of the University of Abuja, Professor Taofiq AbdulAzeez has enjoined Muslims to partake actively in politics and the democratic process.

The Don pointed out that continuous apathy to political participation by Muslims is not only a satanic display of ignorance and a disservice to the liberation of the world but also a denial of the services of the faith-based capacity of the Muslims to rescue the world.

The Islamic Cleric made this call during Jumat Service, Friday.

He stated further that Muslims should take a cue from the lives of Allah’s Messengers and righteous predecessors who changed the world through a modified conventional means of socio-political and military engagements of their time.

According to him, democracy is alien to Islam and Muslims in its fundamentals, that is why some scholars with monarchical orientation, sponsorship and pecuniary advantage have consistently regarded democracy as a form of disbelief or innovation.

He however said the role of Muslims as Allah vicegerents is increasingly impossible due to the global attrition of the political, economic and other spaces of human existence by Satanists, hence the most popular power and authority tool kit appears to be democracy.

Professor AbdulAzeez reminded Muslims that Prophet Muhammad never fought any war before he was commanded by Allah to defend the Muslims in the battle of Badr, while raiding and battles were only inherited and modified by Muslims and not introduced by Islam.

“It is absurd to expect Jihad of swords, horses and camels in the face of tanks and missiles. It is also absurd to want Kital while we are in Makkah of our history when we can use our hands to vote using PVC as a weapon of the battles or as a card in the game,” he added.

The Chief Imam further cautioned Muslims that they would not be taken to account by Allah for not seeking elective offices or supporting fellow Muslims for elections.

He said further that Muslims would be tasked by Allah if as a result of their collective negligence and reckless abandonment, a disbeliever occupies the position of authority and deals a deadly blow on the Ummah.

He added that any response from Muslims consequently would be interpreted as rebellion, treachery and treason, saying a Muslim on the seat could be reminded that the Ummah must engage, correct and manage the Imams who lead them before Allah.

Professor AbdulAzeez also called on the authority for the deregulation of Nigeria's democracy as a way out of the ‘constant volatile incursion and spiritual banditry’ that have recently characterized the nation´s democratic engagement.

“The authority is urged to deregulate democracy to allow the Christian, Muslim and traditional institutions to transmute into political parties with their candidates for appropriate representation and sanctions.

"Doing this will not only bring down tension but also encourage positive competition among the representatives to perform better to sell their interest and institutions”, he stated.

The Cleric counselled the religious politicians to fear the God they worship and be prepared for meeting with Him to answer for their contributions to building or destroying the world through their actions and or inactions.
