The Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), English Assembly District, Itire, Lagos, has announced a commendation service in honour of the late Pastor Elijah Oguntade, a revered clergyman who passed away in London, United Kingdom, on July 18, 2025, at the age of 73.

According to a statement by Pastor Taiwo Sokunbi, the Secretary of the District, the memorial service is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, August 12, at 5pm, at the CAC English District Headquarters, 3 Adefimihan Street, Off Itire-Mushin Road, Lagos.

Born into a pastoral family, Pastor Oguntade’s life was marked by tireless devotion to faith, community service, and the growth of the church.

He was a foundation Elder of CAC’s first-ever purely English-speaking Assembly, founded by the Itire District in Lagos, and played a pivotal role in its expansion. Notably, the first branch of the Assembly was hosted at his residence in the Ikate area of Surulere, Lagos.

Ordained in 1999 at the Christ Apostolic Church English Assembly, Oguntade served diligently before relocating to the UK in 2003, where he continued his pastoral mission.

He served in multiple CAC assemblies in the United Kingdom before eventually becoming a leading figure at CAC Surrey Docks DCC, under the Anosike Region, which covers the UK and Europe.

In addition to his ministerial calling, Pastor Oguntade was an accomplished IT professional.

Alongside his childhood friend and brother-in-law, Pastor Remi Collins, he co-founded Remsund Nigeria Limited, a firm instrumental in deploying the ASYCUDA software system for the Nigerian Customs Service at Lagos ports.

The statement described him as “a highly revered man of God, widely noted for his kindness, selflessness, humility, generosity, and passion for the work of God.”

An online tribute posted by his family reads in part: “Pastor Oguntade dedicated his life to the service of his community and faith, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and spiritual guidance. He was more than a pastor; he was a beacon of hope and support for countless individuals and families.”

The tribute continued, “His commitment to his faith and his community was unwavering, fostering an environment of growth and understanding. Pastor Oguntade nurtured relationships that spanned generations. His legacy will continue to inspire us to live with grace, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to our values.”

Pastor Oguntade is survived by his wife, Funmilayo Oguntade, their children, and grandchildren.

The church called on all members, friends, and well-wishers to join the church in honouring the life and service of the late clergyman.
