A Federal High Court sitting in Damaturu has nullified the parallel primary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, which produced the President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan as the candidate of the party for Yobe North Senatorial seat.

The presiding judge, Justice Fadima Murtala Aminu, ordered the APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission to recognise Bashir Machina as the candidate of the Party.

The judge also ordered the APC to forward the name of Machina to INEC as the authentic winner of the primary held in May.

Lawan had emerged in a parallel primary held in June after losing the presidential primary to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
