Suspended Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi representing Bauchi Central has resigned his position as the Chairman of Northern Senators Forum.

In a letter addressed to the Secretary of the Forum, Ningi hinged the decision on the ‘unfolding events in the National Assembly, the North and the Nation at large’.

Ningi has alleged that the 2024 budget was padded to the tune of N3.7trillion, alleging that the budget that was passed by the National Assembly was not the same budget being implemented by the presidency.

When he was confronted with the details of the 2024 budget, Senator Ningi explained that he was misquoted adding that a total of N3.7trillion in the budget was not attached to any project.

The Northern Senators distanced themselves from Ningi’s allegation, saying he never consulted with them before making the allegation.

He was suspended for three months on Monday.
