Despite losing their last two games, the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire frustrated the Les Lions de la Teranga of Senegal out of the ongoing African Cup of Nations during a penalty kick.
The hosts defeated Senegal by 5 goals to 4.
The match had extended into extra time following a 1 - 1 in regular time. Both teams could not find the net after the extra time.
Ivory Coast were the more dominant side in the first half in terms of ball possession but it was Senegal who took an early lead through Habib Diallo's brilliant strike in the fourth minute.
