A gas tanker explosion, Saturday, hit Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, leaving no fewer than four persons already confirmed dead while several properties were destroyed.
HorizonTimes gathered that the incident occured on Saturday afternoon at Ita-Oshi area, along the Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta.
As at the time of filling this report, operatives of Federal Road Safety Corps, Nigeria Police and other sister agencies were on ground to manage the situation.
The FRSC operatives were seen evacuating dead bodies in body bags from the scene, while operatives of Fire Service were also seen making frantic efforts to put out the inferno.
As at the time of filling this report, the inferno has been put under control.
Although the cause of the explosion was not ascertained at the time HorizonTimes visites the scene, a gas tanker, suspected to be the cause of the explosion was scene at the scene.
Many private vehicles were caught in the inferno and burnt beyond recognition.
The accident resulted serious gridlock along the old Lagos Abeokuta road, Old Ilaro road along Oke-Ata axis, Ita Oshi-berewery road, amongst other adjoining roads.
