Mojisola Meranda has resigned as the speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.

She resigned on Monday, March 3 at the ongoing plenary session.

She said she had to make the selfless sacrifice to preserve the institution.

Mudasiru Obasa, the ousted Speaker of the Assembly was immediately nominated as the Speaker while Meranda was nominated as Deputy Speaker.

With the arrangement, the Lagos State House of Assembly has returned to status quo ante bellum.

Meanwhile, there is an unconformed rumour that Obasa might also be forced to resign in the coming days to pave way for a brand new Speaker.
