Breaking: Court Restrains Oyo Assembly from Further Impeachment Process Against Makinde’s Deputy, Olaniyan

An Oyo State High Court, sitting in Ibadan, the State capital has restrained the State House of Assembly from further impeachment process against the deputy governor of the State, Engr Raufu Olaniyan.

The Court, presided over by Justice Oladiran Akintola ruled that the State Assembly should stop any removal process it initiated until the court decides on matter before it.

The Assembly is billed to read Olaniyan’s reply to their allegations brought against him by the Assembly on Wednesday, but has been placed on hold on further process regarding the impeachment process.

The court adjourned the matter till Tuesday, July 5 2022 for continuation of hearing.

The adjournment was to allow the Assembly to file its responses before the court.

Chief Afolabi Fashanu, SAN, led Olaniyan’s legal team while the Assembly was represented by a Director of Legal Services.
