Popular Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has withdrawn his suit challenging the Awujale of Ijebuland nomination process.
Court documents sighted on Tuesday but dated December 22, 2025, showed that Ayinde formally discontinued the suit through a Notice of Discontinuance filed at the High Court of Ogun State sitting in Ijebu-Ode.
Ayinde had earlier approached the court by way of an ex-parte application, seeking an order restraining the respondents from proceeding with the Awujale nomination process pending the determination of his suit.
However, the court declined the ex-parte request when the matter came up on Monday, opting instead for an accelerated hearing of the substantive suit.
Shortly after the court’s decision, the applicant elected to discontinue the entire action.
In the notice filed before the court, Ayinde stated that the suit was instituted following a correspondence calling for the nomination of a candidate to the stool of Awujale from the second respondent, which was later withdrawn, prompting his decision to abandon the case.
The notice prayed the court to formally record the discontinuance and make any consequential orders it deemed fit.
The notice listed the Ogun State Government, the Executive Chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the Attorney-General of the state, the Awujale Interregnum Administrative Council and the Funsengbuwa Ruling House among the respondents.
KWAM 1 who has shown interest in contesting the vacant stool of Awujale was rejected by the Funsegbunwa Royal Family on the ground that he is not a member of the family.
The musician is the Olori Omooba of Ijebuland, a position he claimed through Fidipote Royal Family and not Funsengbuwa Royal Family.
Although, the withdrawal of the suit clears the legal hurdle surrounding the Awujale nomination process, it is not clear if the musician will re-institute the case should the local government issue a fresh letter seeking for nomination of a candidate for the stool.
The earlier notice was withdrawn by the local government following the intervention of Ogun State government on the need for the process to align with relevant laws of the State.
