In continuation of his mega empowerment programme, the Senator representing Ogun State at the National Assembly, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has donated some items to journalists in Ogun State.
The items were donated to the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ogun State Council and the Correspondents Chapel, within the same Council.
The Council took delivery of the materials, Saturday, at its State Secretariat, Iwe Iroyin, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
Senator Amosun, during the flag-off of the empowerment programme at the Ake Palace ground in Abeokuta, two weeks ago, had promised to extend the items to non-political groups, associations, including journalists.
Items distributed by the former governor included 2, 000 grinding machines, 2, 000 sewing machines, 500 laptops and desktops, 500 freezers and 100 mini buses.
Alhaji Jelil Okewole who delivered the empowerment materials said the gesture was a palliative measure tailored towards cushioning the effect of the biting economy in the country.
Okewole further stressed that Senator Amosun would spare no strength nor efforts at putting smiles on the faces of the citizens irrespective of their professional leanings.
He congratulated the new Executives on their emergence at the just concluded Council election, expressing happiness that the close-to-four years crises which nearly crippled the union was finally resolved.
Taking delivery of the items at the NUJ Secretariat, Iwe Irohin House, the State Chairman, Comrade 'Wale Olanrewaju, in the presence of some other executive members, commended the gesture by the former governor.

He stressed that the gesture would go a long way in empowering journalists in Ogun State, especially those who are groaning in pains as orchestrated by nonpayment of their salaries by their proprietors.
Sulaiman Fasasi, the Secretary of the Correspondents Chapel, also took delivery of items donated to the Chapel.
Alhaji Okewole said the Senator wishes the Union and members merry Christmas and happy new year.
Items received included grinding machines, sewing machines and generating sets, which will be distributed, according to the recipients, amongst members.
