The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo has assured the Abeokuta Polo Club of collaboration and support with the Egba traditional council.
The Egba monarch, while playing host to the Ground Breaking Committee at the Ake palace described the initiative as one that aligns perfectly with the vision for progressive Egbaland.
The Committee was led to the palace by its President, Dr. Sheriff Adams Abdulrahman, and assisted by Committee Chairman who is also the Orunto of Owu kingdom, Chief Abiodun Lasile.
His Royal Majesty welcomed the initiative and expressed his enthusiasm for the potential collaboration between the Abeokuta Polo Club and the Egbaland traditional institution.
The Alake of Egbaland praised the efforts of the Abeokuta Polo Club, noting that the introduction of polo and the establishment of the club would not only bring a new dimension to sports in Abeokuta but also contribute significantly to the socio-economic development of the area.
He emphasized the potentials for polo to attract tourism and investment, thereby enhancing the state's reputation and creating opportunities for the youth.
His Royal Majesty stated, “The Abeokuta Polo Club's initiative aligns perfectly with our vision for a progressive Abeokuta and Ogun State. We are more than willing to collaborate and support this noble endeavor in any way possible.”
The delegation was warmly received by the monarch, who expressed immense pleasure in hosting the team, particularly highlighting the presence the Owu chief.
They assured His Royal Majesty of the committee's commitment to ensuring the success of the polo club and its activities, which would undoubtedly bring joy and development to the community.
The visit concluded with a mutual understanding and a firm commitment by His Royal Majesty symbolizing a promising partnership between the Abeokuta Polo Club and the traditional institution of Egbaland.
The meeting marks the beginning of a potentially fruitful collaboration that could elevate the status of Abeokuta and contribute to the broader development of Ogun State.
