Olokojobi Ruling House of Ibese, Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State has accused Governor Abiodun of shedding crocodile tears over the recent Obaship tussle which hit Agosasa, in Ipokia Local Government area of the State.

The ruling house accused the state government of being responsible for many unrests by disregarding valid court orders on Obaship issues in the State, thereby encouraging self-help.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary of the Ruling House, Ojuolape Opeibi (Née Idowu).

The state Governor, Dapo Abiodun, had vowed to unmask actors in the Agosasa unrest which claimed three lives with properties worth several million destroyed.

But while reacting to the statement, the family alleged that the Governor was only shedding crocodile tears as it is the reason for which many people result to self-help.

It alleged that in the case of Ibese Obaship tussle, the government disregarded valid court orders by installing an illegal Monarch.

It also alleged that same Monarch was hurriedly inaugurated within 48hours without an ancestral crown and without entering the Ipebi which was said to be against Yoruba tradition.

"While we commiserate and sympathise with the people of Agosasa, it is also important to call for calm and allow the due process of law to always take its cause in any dispute.

"The Agosasa unrest, is another dark history of our dear state, for which all reasonable sons and daughters of Ogun State especially Yewa and Awori, must be concerned.

"It is important to note that the government of Dapo Abiodun is the number one culprit in some of these unrests as they relate to Obaship tussles in Ogun State and especially in the Ogun West area of the State.

"The government continues to encourage self-help with it's disgraceful disregard for the rule of law in the process of selecting Obas in the State. The same government which recently expressed worry at the number of illegal Obas in the State. What crocodile tears!

"In Ibeseland, for example, the government disregarded court orders from which it is a party in the suits and for which categorical statements were made by the courts, went ahead and installed an illegal Aboro of Ibeseland.

"In its obvious disregard for the rule of law and peaceful coexistence of indigenes, the State Executive Council led by Prince Dapo Abiodun purportedly approved the selection for the vacant stool of Aboro of Ibeseland, and hurriedly inaugurated the illegal Oba within 48 hours.

"Against the Yoruba tradition, the illegal Oba was inaugurated before entering the traditional Ipebi and without the ancestral crown of Ibeseland. This can only happen in Ogun West. We wonder why the same approach was not followed in the selection and installation of Olowu stool in Abeokuta. Afterall, both were approved the same day," the statement read in part.

While corroborating its allegation against the government on Obaship issues, the family further alleged that another Oba was installed in Itele Ota, in Ado-Odo/Ota local government against court orders.

It further said that same was the case in Ipokia in Ipokia Local Government of the State, where a Monarch was installed while his nomination was being challenged in court.

"In Itele Awori area of Ado-Odo/Ota local government, Prince Abiodun, against the position of the highest court of the land and in a total disregard to a pending case before the Federal High Court, went ahead to install another illegal Oba.

"This is the same local government where several people were killed during the time of Gbenga Daniel, also because of such total disregard for the law by those who were voted to uphold the same law.

"In the same Ipokia local government where the recent unrest occurred, the government acted in contempt of court and installed an Onipokia even when a case had been instituted before a competent court of law on the nomination of the person so adopted.

"In Ipokia and Ibese, governor Abiodun disregarded the existing laws of the land and imposed, with the help of some elements, on the people of the towns, people who are not so qualified abinitio, because they were from the female lineage.

"There are several other examples especially in Yewa/Aworiland. No wonder we had very sad incidents which can be described as desecration of traditional institutions by killing of Obas, attacking Obas, removal of Obas, etc.

"We wonder why some of the occupiers of Oke-Mosan seat are turning Yewa/Awori to battle ground and turning brothers against one another. The Yewas must wake up.

"This crocodile tears must stop from the government. Government must purge itself of arrogance for which it disobeys court orders at will, such manipulations can only force people to adopt self-help."
