In what appears like a coordinated attack on Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC facilities in the South West, some suspected arsonists have again attacked the office of the Commission located at Ede South in Osun State.

An Ogun State office of the Commission located at Iyana Mortuary in Abeokuta South local government area of the State was on the early hours of Thursday attacked by hoodlums, setting it on fire.

Using the same strategy, HorizonTimes gathered that the arsonists arrived the Commission’s office in Osun with six loaves of bread soaked with petroleum product to ignite the fire.

The Abeokuta office was also attacked with loaves of bread soaked with petroleum product.

A source in Osun INEC revealed that the hoodlums numbering three, arrived the Commission office around 9am and invaded the office with six loaves of bread soaked with petrol.

The breads were said to have been thrown through the windows of the conference room before they ignited them with fire.

The leftover of the bread partly burnt was recovered by the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Iresi B Division, Oladoyin Akanni, who led his team to the scene.

It was further gathered that all sensitive materials including unclaimed PVCs, Registers and content of the store were not affected by the inferno.

When contacted, the Resident Electoral commissioner in Osun, Dr Mutiu Agboke confirmed the development, adding that the situation was under control.

Dr Agboke further confirmed that only the conference room of the Commission was affected by the fire.
