The Imole Campaign Council, the campaign organisation of Osun State Governor and Accord governorship candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has raised the alarm over an alleged plan by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to declare Saturday’s governorship election inconclusive.

The campaign council, in a statement signed by its Chairman, Media and Publicity Committee, Rep. Bamidele Salam, alleged that the purported plan was being coordinated by some governors and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in an attempt to frustrate what it described as Adeleke’s “imminent victory” and subvert the will of Osun voters.

The council condemned the alleged move and reminded the INEC National Chairman of his public commitments to ensuring that the election was free, fair and credible.

It also urged INEC, the APC and security agencies to uphold President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive that the election must not be compromised, describing the exercise as a litmus test for the 2027 general elections.

The campaign council also called on the Inspector-General of Police, the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), the Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and other security agencies to provide adequate protection at collation centres across the state.

It further alleged that ballot boxes had already been hijacked in some polling units by suspected thugs and called for the arrest and prosecution of those responsible.

The council appealed to local and international observers monitoring the election to take note of its concerns and speak up in defence of the electoral process and the people of Osun State.
