Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State and the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the Saturday’s election in the State, has promised to celebrate his election victory with liquor, beers and gins.
The Governor also promised to mountsl tents and slaughter cattle across Iperu, his home town, to celebrate the victory.
This is just as Abiodun also threatened to arrest any opposition party member intimidating his supporters during the election in the State.
The Governor, while speaking with his supporters at his Iperu home on Sunday, said he didn’t give them beers because he wanted them to listen to him. He however promised to give them envelopes.
Abiodun who spoke in Yoruba language told his cheering supporters that merry-making awaits them if they return him elected in the coming election.
“I want to thank all of you that came today, by the grace of God, on Sunday or Monday, I will mount tents everywhere in the compound and outside.
“You know we didn’t drink beer today, if I have given you beer, you wouldn’t have listened to what I am saying. I told them (aides) not to talk about beer today, because you won’t be attentive.
“But after we have voted and won the election, you will drink ‘whiskey’, you will drink beer, you will drink gin, we will slaughter cattle everywhere in Iperu and be singing ‘we have voted, we have won’.
Governor Abiodun who also boasted of his status as the Chief Security Officer of the State, threatened to arrest any opposition member who intimidates his supporters in the state.
This threat was coming ahead of the Saturday's governorship and House of Assembly elections in the State.
The governor who spoke at his Iperu country home on Sunday, told his supporters and the members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) not to bow to any form of intimidation on the election day.
A video clip which has gone viral was posted on the official Facebook page of the Governor, 'Prince Dr Dapo Abiodun - MFR'.
The Governor, while speaking with different groups of artisans, traders, transport workers, etc, boasted that he has the powers to arrest anybody as the Governor.
"Don't allow anybody to intimidate you on election day. I am sure you know that I am the governor, I am the governor of this state. I am the chief security officer of this state and I can (order) arrest (of) anybody.
"They (opponents) can go about grandstanding, but it's of no effect.
"I'm a gentleman. But like they say, the gentility of a tiger is not a symbol of timidity.
Like Abiodun, his arch-rival in the governorship race and candidate of the People's Democratic Party ( PDP), Ladi Adebutu, also hails from Iperu - Remo.
The governor, obviously referring to Adebutu, also alleged that his opponents have started importing political thugs into Iperu-Remo township ahead of Saturday's election.
"I learnt some people have started importing thugs into Iperu, If I lay my hands on them, I'll deal with them and their thugs decisively," the governor said.
