3, 000 Marketmen, Artisans, sign up for Makinde’s second term in Oke-Ogun

Marketmen and women as well as members of Trademen and Artisans of Oyo State from Iseyin, Itesiwaju, Kajola and Iwajowa federal constituency, Tuesday inaugurated as members of GSM Marines at Iseyin, Iseyin local government area of the State.

This is in preparation for the 2023 governorship campaign in the State.

The Governor Seyi Makinde (GSM) Marine, coordinated by Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun has membership across endeavors like farmers, teachers, Marketmen and women, artisans among others.

While welcoming the newly-inaugurated members of the group, the Commissioner said time has come for the traders, artisans, food vendors and others in their category to benefit more from democratic dividends accruable from the State.

Olatubosun listed developmental projects that the Makinde government has delivered to the people and those still in the pipeline for the benefit of residents to include the completed Moniya-Iseyin road, ongoing Oyo-Iseyin, Ogbomoso-Lapite-Iseyin, road among others in the Oke-Ogun zone.

At the event which was attended by the Executive Chairmen of Iseyin, Itesiwaju, Kajola and Iwajowa local government areas, Dr. Wasiu added that the administration has touched the lives of Oyo people positively in the area of Primary Healthcare delivery, by revamping all the maternity centers in the State.

He called on the new members of GSM Marine to be the eyes and ears of the present administration in the build up to the coming elections in the State, for the people to continue to benefit more from their government.

“While inaugurating our Iseyin, Itesiwaju, Kajola and Iwajowa members of the GSM Marine today, we want to remind our people of the need to reinvigorate the call for continuity for an administration that has fulfilled the yearnings of electorates within the first three years of coming to office, in the areas of free and qualitative education, good networks of roads, which Oke-Ogun area, especially Iseyin has benefited, social welfare for the workers and retirees as well as economic expansion to create financial power for our people.

“Agribusiness is one particular area that has made the present administration stand out from others, as different programs that are meant to give our farmers the enablement for exportation and processing of farm produce have been embarked upon.

“The healthcare sector is not left behind as all the maternities under the Primary Healthcare Centers (PHCs) in the State have been revamped to modern standard, when you talk of the desire of Iseyin people to have a higher institution of learning, Governor Makinde has made possible the creation and establishment of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso (LAUTECH)’s College of Agricultural Science and Renewable Resources at Iseyin.

“All that is needed is to build upon these when Governor Seyi Makinde is re-elected and this is why it is important to remind our people that nothing is important now than to rally round the performing governor.”

The Babaloja-General of Oyo State, Chief Sunmoila Jimoh in his remark, said every citizen of the State has benefited from the government’s performance in the last three years, through the free education program, construction of major road networks.

He assured the traders and artisans of better things to come in the area of financial support for members, urging them to get their voter’s cards in readiness for the 2023 elections, so as to re-elect the incumbent governor.

The President of the Oke-Ogun Chapter of the Artisans and Tradesmen Association, Comrade Olaide Tajudeen appreciated the State government for what he called unprecedented delivery of good governance in the State.

He advised members to start the process of re-electing Seyi Makinde immediately after the meeting through door-to-door campaigns and call to other members that were yet to get their permanent voter’s cards (PVCs) to do so in good time.
