The League of Imams and Alfas, Ogun State Chapter, has thrown its weight behind the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Ishaq Oloyede, amidst recent controversies surrounding the conduct of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
In a letter signed by its Secretary General, Alhaji Tajudeen Mustapha Adewunmi, and addressed to the JAMB Registrar, the religious body expressed "unflinching support" and described Professor Oloyede as a beacon of integrity, transparency, and accountability in Nigeria’s education sector.
"We commend your uprightness, principled stance on accountability, and unwavering commitment to integrity and due process, the qualities that have distinguished your leadership over the years," the letter read.
The League acknowledged the public discourse around the 2025 UTME but reaffirmed its confidence in Oloyede’s leadership, citing his transformative reforms and judicious management of resources since assuming office.
“You have consistently proven yourself to be a man of deep faith, discipline, and trustworthiness. These values resonate deeply with the principles of Islam and the moral lessons we uphold as a religious body concerned about the future of Nigerian youth,” the statement added.
The religious leaders urged the JAMB boss to remain steadfast in his mission to uphold the credibility of the nation’s examination and admissions system, despite mounting challenges and scrutiny.
They also commended his role in exposing systemic flaws affecting students’ efforts and outcomes.
Reassuring their support, the League emphasized that the entire Muslim community in Ogun State stood in solidarity with him and would continue to pray for divine guidance and protection for Oloyede and his team.
“May the Almighty Allah reward your sacrifices for our nation and grant you enduring success in all your endeavours,” the letter concluded.
