President Muhammadu Buhari's administration has allocated a total sum of N400b to be spent on the revitalisation of government owned tertiary institutions in the 2023 budget.
This is coming as the President declared that government alone cannot carry the burden of funding tertiary education in the country.
Buhari said funding tertiary education is a shared responsibility of both the public and private sectors all over the world.
The President made this known at the joint session of the National Assembly for the presentation of the 2023 and final budget budget estimates of his administration.
Revitalisation fund is one of the core reasons for which the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has been on industrial action for more than seven months.
